Swoobat (Japanese: ココロモリ Kokoromori) is a dual-type Psychic/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Woobat when leveled up with high happiness.

Biology

Physiology

Swoobat is a primarily turquoise, batlike Pokémon. Its pointed ears, with lighter-colored insides, are attached and thus resemble the triangular shape of a metronome. The large pink snouts of Kokorimori sport a single, heart-shaped nostril, and the mouth is wide and toothed. A mane of white fur covers its neck and body. It black, batlike wings have 'thumbs', and its lower limbs are also black-colored. The lowermost segment of its body is blue, and its bare, pink, ratlike tail has prongs at the tip that may be described to form a heart shape.

Special abilities

It can shoot ultrasonic sound waves from its nostrils. It can also release waves powerful enough to destroy boulders. During courtship, a male Swoobat uses these sound waves on itself, which pleases it and makes it happy.

Trivia

  • Swoobat's evolutionary line has several similarities with Crobat's. Both of them are based on bats and reach their respective final evolutionary form by happiness.

Origin

Swoobat appears to based on a Flying Fox and a Heart-nosed Bat.

Name origin

Swoobat's name may possibly be a portmanteau of swoop, swoon (to be overcome by infatuation)wool, and bat. The "S" added to Woobat to form its evolution's name may also emulate the adding of "Ko" to Koromori, using an additional letter at the beginning to change the meaning. Kokoromori seems to come from 心 kokoro (heart) and コウモリ kōmori (bat).
