*Slaking has the third highest attack of any Pokémon in any game. However, it is tied with {{p|Regigigas}} and is surpassed by {{p|Rampardos}} and the attack form of {{p|Deoxys}}.

*Slaking has the highest base stat average of any non-legendary Pokémon, though its ability significantly ruins its potential.

*Although Slaking is said to slack off like {{p|Slakoth}}, it does not lose any of its added speed upon evolving from {{p|Vigoroth}} and it actually has a higher speed, but its ability makes it slack off.

*In double battles, Slaking's Truant ability can easily be nullified using {{m|Skill Swap}}. Several trainers in [[Pokémon Emerald]] use this power, including [[Norman]] during the player's rematches with him. Without Truant, Slaking can make full use of its impressive stats.

It appears to draw inspiration from {{wp|sloth}}s and some form of {{wp|ape}}. The inspiration from sloths makes it resemblant to Megatherium, also known as the Giant Ground Sloth.

Slaking's name is a combination of ''slake'', meaning to slacken, and ''king''. Its Japanese name is a combination of 怠ける ''namakeru'', to be idle, or 怠け者 ''namakemono'', sloth, and ''king''.
