Route 228 (Japanese: ２２８ばんどうろ Route 228) is a route in northeastern Sinnoh located in the Battle Zone. It connects Route 226 and Route 229.

Route description

Route 228 in Diamond and Pearl

On this route, some of the highest-leveled wild Pokémon in Sinnoh can be found. Like Route 111 in Hoenn, there is a raging sandstorm here that will affect all battles. Route 228 is also home to the Move Tutor, who can teach any first partner Pokémon Hydro Cannon, Blast Burn, or Frenzy Plant. In Platinum, the cave in the middle of the route holds the Rock Peak Ruins, where Regirock can be battled if the player has a fateful encounter Regigigas in their party. This is also where Cyrus's grandfather lives in Platinum.

Trivia

• An old man on this route may be Lucian's grandfather as he claims to have a grandson who enjoys reading and has a library of books on ESP. However, he can only be found in Diamond and Pearl.
• In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, prior to version 1.1.3, Ace Trainer Meagan uses a Delcatty that knows Feint Attack, despite Feint Attack being unusable in those games. From 1.1.3 onwards, it instead knows Covet.
• In his rematch in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Psychic Corbin uses a Banette that knows Shadow Force, which Banette cannot legally learn.
