Trivia
- Hiyakkie and its pre-evolution are the only Pokémon that are able to learn Boiling Water by leveling up.
- Hiyakkie's Sugimori art shows its entire tail to be blue, whereas the in-game sprite, Dream World art, and TCG art depict it as tan with a blue tip.
Origin
Hiyakkie is based on a monkey and a fountain; because of this, it may have been inspired by the water dwelling, monkey-like creature Ahuizotl. Its chest fur resembles that of a volcano and may have possibly been based on geysers, subaqueous volcanos, or the Guatemalan Volcán de Agua. It may allude to the music style of reggae. Hiyakkie, along with its two contemporaries, seem to be based on the three wise monkeys motif. Hiyakkie, with its eyes closed, represents "See No Evil."
Name origin
Hiyakkie's name is possibly derived from 冷や hiya, meaning cool water, and from monkey.
