[[Category:{{{type1}}}-type Pokémon|{{{ndex}}}]]
Sharpedo (Japanese: サメハダー Samehader) is a dual-type Water/Dark Pokémon.
It evolves from Carvanha starting at level 30.
Biology
Physiology
Sharpedo's body is torpedo shaped, much like the head and trunk section of a real shark. Its body is covered in tiny, sharp denticles which create hydrodynamic advantages by reducing turbulence when swimming, as well as cause damage to foes to that attack it with physical moves. However, it can only hope to survive moves it resists, and even they are going to be ripping holes into it. Sharpedo is colored blue with a white underbelly. The yellow star emblem it had as a Carvanha has migrated to its snout. Another star emblem is on its rear. Sharpedo has a tall dorsal fin with two notches cut into it, with a pelvic fin directly opposite it, and the two pectoral fins arranged so that they resemble the fins on the back of a torpedo. Sharpedo also has two gill slits directly behind each eye.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Sharpedo's abilities are a modified, stronger version of Carvanha's. Sharpedo can now use Poison Jab, Slash, Night Slash and Earthquake.
Since Sharpedo is a fully evolved Pokémon, it can use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
Sharpedo is a generally dreaded and distrusted Pokémon. Sharpedo moves through the sea by swimming at speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph) by forcing water out of its rear. Despite its vigor, Sharpedo has relatively low stamina, and is unable to swim great distances. Its teeth are strong enough to bite through metal, and they grow back rapidly if they snap off. Sharpedo is driven by an unruly, caustic urge to attack and destroy anything that enters its domain. As a result of its temperament and its armament, just one Sharpedo can effectively tear apart an oil tanker.
Habitat
Sharpedo live in the upper regions of the oceans.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Just like Carvanha, Sharpedo are predatory Pokémon that will prey upon any creature they can sink their teeth into.

Trivia
- On April Fool's Day, 2002, Mizuado, a Steel/Water hammerhead shark Pokémon was "revealed", but it turned out to be a fake. This Pokémon was also sometimes called Samehadaa, which is similar to Sharpedo's Japanese name.
- Sharpedo could not learn any Template:Type2 moves by leveling up in Generation III, and in Generation IV, it only learns Aqua Jet.
Origin
Sharpedo is based on a shark with the body of a torpedo. It also looks like a shark that has been cut in half. It's general body shape is also similar to an Ocean Sunfish. Both fish are known for their sandpaper-like skin.
Name origin
Sharpedo's name is a combination of the words shark and torpedo. The first part of its name may also be derived from sharp, referencing its fins and Rough Skin ability. Samehader may be a corruption of 鮫肌 samehada, fishskin, perhaps referring to its Rough Skin ability. In addition, its name may be a combination of 鮫 same, shark, and 肌荒れ hada-are, rough skin. Samehada may also reference a creature from Japanese mythology of the same name. Samehada, in the myth, was the partner to the three-tailed demon shark Isonade.
In other languages
