(Japanese: スワマ Suwama) is the former Trainer of Ash's Tepig, serving as a character of the day in BW077.

Suwama was first introduced in person in BW077 where he was in the Battle Club having a Double Battle, using Emboar and Heatmor, with Kensō that Ash and ashfr witnessed. Because of his preference for Fires, he refers to himself and his team as the "Fire Warriors". He won the battle rather easily. Afterwards he picked on Kensō, causing Ash and the others to confront him briefly.

He did not take Kensō's Pokémon due to Don George walking by after that.

While having lunch alone, Ash's Tepig saw him and ran up to him affectionately. It would turn out that he was the Trainer who had abandoned Tepig before the events of The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice!, abandoning him after he lost to a Deerling in a battle despite having the type-advantage. Since Tepig kept trying to go with him, he had tied him to a post. Seeing Tepig with Ash, he told Ash that he abandoned it because of its uselessness, hitting Ash in the nerve.

While Ash and Iris found this to be cruel, he defended his actions and explained that it was done for Tepig's own good as forcing a "talentless" Pokémon to battle would be worse than releasing it.

To prove he is right, Suwama challenged Ash to a Double Battle. Ash decided to use Tepig and Snivy, however Tepig did not wish to battle against his former Trainer. He had the impression that Suwama still cared for him and only released him because he cared. However, it turned out that Suwama was only faking his kindness before and couldn't have cared less about Tepig. Although Snivy ended up defeated by a Flare Blitz/Fire Spin combination attack, Tepig managed to hang on and evolve into a Pignite in the process. Using his new attack, Fire Pledge, as well as a powerful Flame Charge, it was able to defeat both of its opponents. Impressed by Pignite's new power, Suwama asked it to come back to him, but Pignite simply responded by scorching his head with Flamethrower.
To settle the matter, Don George recommended that Suwama and Ash battle each other to which both agreed to be a Double Battle. Ash decided to use Tepig and Snivy, however Tepig did not wish to battle against his former Trainer. He had the impression that Suwama still cared for him and only released him because he cared. However, he would reveal that he only pretends to be pained by releasing a weak Pokémon so that if he ever encounters them again they would be hesitant to battle him. The revelation left Tepig crushed. Although Snivy ended up defeated by a Flare Blitz/Fire Spin combination attack, Tepig managed to hang on and evolve into a Pignite in the process.
