Sentret is a small furry mammal with a big round body with stubby arms and two small feet. Its fur is light brown, and it has a tail with dark brown stripes that it uses to stand on to see if there is danger nearby. It has long dark brown ears, a white ring on its belly, and white paw pads. While it is capable of standing on its hind legs, it usually moves on all four.

Sentret are able to stand on their tails. They do this to find out whether there is any danger nearby and also to warn others of possible danger. Their shrieks warn all Pokémon in the neighborhood of any possible danger.
Behavior
Sentret has a very nervous and cautious behavior, apparently fearing for its life. It will not sleep alone, and usually sleeps while another of its kind watches for danger. When one sees a predator, it warns the rest in its pack, and they all flee.
Sentret appear frequently in the grasslands of the Johto and Sevii Islands regions, with some appearances in Kanto's Route 1. They will also occasionally appear in Sinnoh and Unova.
Sentret, the Scout Pokémon. Sentret is able to see great distances by rising up on its tail. When it spots an enemy, or any kind of danger, it emits a loud, shrill cry as a warning.
Sentret was first seen as a Pokémon under the ownership of Professor Elm.
Later, it is seen at Earl's Pokémon Academy in Violet City. Crystal uses it to illustrate the concept of held items, such as Berries, to one of the children.
When Sentret sleeps, it does so while another stands guard. The sentry wakes the others at the first sign of danger. When this Pokémon becomes separated from its pack, it becomes incapable of sleep due to fear.
They take turns standing guard when it is time to sleep. The sentry awakens the others if it senses danger. If one becomes separated, it turns sleepless with fear.
