When Ash and company first arrived in Rustboro, Roxanne was not able to answer Ash's challenge because she was still busy with teaching. However, she and the headmaster of the school invited the gang to spend a day in the school.  

|desc={{p|Geodude}} was first seen in ''[[AG015|Gonna Rule The School]]'', when Roxanne used it to fight off {{TRT}}. [[AG016|In the next episode]], Geodude was the first Pokémon Roxanne used in her Gym battle with {{Ash}}. Geodude easily defeated {{AP|Treecko|Sceptile}} with two {{m|Mega Punch}} attacks despite the type disadvantage and Ash's best efforts, since Treecko didn't know any {{type|Grass}} moves at the time. {{AP|Pikachu}}, however, managed to defeat Geodude with {{m|Thunder}}{{tt|*|Which should be impossible due to Geodude's immunity against electricity}}.

|desc=The next Pokémon Roxanne used in her battle with {{Ash}} was her signature Pokémon, {{p|Nosepass}}. Since {{AP|Pikachu}} had not much experience in using the [[move]] {{m|Iron Tail}} as it had only recently learned it, it was not able to use it effectively against Nosepass. It proved to be a tough opponent for Pikachu. However, eventually Pikachu managed to perfect its Iron Tail, and was able to defeat Nosepass with it, earning Ash the {{Badge|Stone}}.

 

Nosepass's known moves are {{m|Zap Cannon}}{{tt|*|Hyper Beam in the Japanese version, a move which Nosepass cannot legally learn.}}, {{m|Sandstorm}}, {{m|Thunder Wave}}{{tt|*|Hyper Beam in the Japanese version, a move which Nosepass cannot legally learn.}}, and {{m|Rock Tomb}}.}}

Roxanne travels around by riding on her {{p|Graveler}}. She keeps her {{p|Nosepass}}'s [[Poké Ball]] in a hollowed-out book.

|desc={{p|Nosepass}} was used to battle {{adv|Sapphire}}'s [[Rono]]. Sapphire tried to recall her Rono to switch to her Toro but Nosepass's Ability disallowed it. With no other ideas in mind, Sapphire had no choice but to keep Rono out. Even though Nosepass had a disadvantage against Steel types, it narrowly defeated Rono with its powerful moves and strategies. However, it was defeated when Rono finally turned the tables.

 

Later, Nosepass was used to try to stop {{p|Groudon}} with its Block attack but Groudon was able to penetrate the attack as [[Magma Admin Courtney]]'s {{p|Ninetales}} was able to knock it out by forcing Roxanne to surrender.

 

Nosepass's known moves are {{m|Harden}}, {{m|Rock Throw}}, {{m|Rock Slide}}, and {{m|Block}}, and its Ability is {{a|Magnet Pull}}. Nosepass also has an Adamant [[nature]].}}
