Purrloin (Japanese: チョロネコ Choroneko) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Liepard starting at level 20.

Biology

Physiology

Purrloin is a primarily purple-colored, feline Pokémon. Its head is large proportional to its body, and tufted at its ears and cheeks. Long, tapered violet markings above its green, feline eyes extend towards its ears. Tapered whitish markings above its eyes resemble eyebrows, and its muzzle, sporting a diminutive nose, is of similar coloration. Its neck, shoulders, back and hind paws are also whitish-colored. The lower portion of its forelimbs are purple, and the tip of its tail sports a curved, vaguely scythe-like extension.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Purrloin can stand on its rear legs.

Behavior

It likes to play with people's belongings and making off with them. In order to do so, it often puts up a cute act to put people's guard down before stealing their belongings. Even when caught red-handed, it usually gets off the hook due to its charming behavior. When angered, it fights back with its claws.

Trivia

  • Purrloin was seen first in the Pokémon Sunday special episode preview in September 6. It was later removed from the same preview, much like the revelation of Zekrom's secondary type earlier.
  • Purrloin is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 281.

Origin

Purrloin is based on a black cat.

Name origin

Purrloin is derived from "purloin", meaning to steal, and "purr", a sound a cat makes. "Loin" may also be a corruption of "Lion". Choroneko may come from 猫 neko, meaning cat, and ちょろまかす choromakasu, meaning to pilfer.
