Effect

Manual activation

When used from the Bag in a wild encounter, it attempts to catch the wild Pokémon with a catch rate modifier of 1×.

If used on an Ultra Beast, the catch rate modifier is instead always set to 410/4096× (~0.1×).

The Premier Ball cannot be used in situations in which Poké Balls cannot be used, such as in wild battles with two or more opponents currently present or against a trial Pokémon. If used in a Trainer battle (except if used as a Snag Ball on a Shadow Pokémon), the opposing Trainer will deflect it, wasting the player's turn (as well as the ball prior to Generation IV). If used on the ghost Marowak, it will dodge it, wasting the ball.

Held item

Fling fails if the user is holding a Premier Ball.

A Premier Ball in Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO

Premier Balls are a special item exclusively used during the bonus challenge of a Raid Battle and the bonus challenge against Shadow Pokémon left behind by Team GO Rocket. Like a standard Poké Ball, it has a catch rate modifier of 1×. Premier Balls are never put into the player's Bag; at the end of a challenge, any unused Premier Balls are discarded.

For Raid Battles, the number of Premier Balls awarded is based on the player's damage contribution in the raid, the alignment of the Gym, the highest Friendship level with another participant, and the time taken to complete the raid.

For Shadow Pokémon encounters, the number of Premier Balls awarded is based on the player's performance in the battle against the Team GO Rocket member and the ranks of related medals.

For all encounters that involve using Premier Balls, Shiny Pokémon have a 100% catch rate. In addition, all Shadow Pokémon left by Giovanni are also guaranteed captures.
