Ash is attacked by the Red Genesect that leads the group, only to be saved by an old friend: {{an|Mewtwo}}. Having sensed that the Genesect are unnatural creations of man like itself, Mewtwo does battle with them in an attempt to free them from their fate.

When the Genesect begin rampaging in the city, Ash is protected by the sudden appearance of an old friend - {{an|Mewtwo}}. Sensing that the Genesect were created by man just like itself, Mewtwo sympathizes with their plight but resolves to defend the city from them no matter the cost. A terrible battle erupts between Mewtwo and the Genesect, forcing Ash, Iris and Cilan to team up with a park ranger and the Pokémon of the city to save it.
