The Pokémon anime first reached Sweden in March 2000, with the first broadcast of Pokémon - Jag väljer dig!.
Pokémon video games
Pokémon games sold in Sweden are not translated to Swedish, rather they are left in English. The games are released at the same time as in the rest of Europe. The only game released in Swedish is Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, but only the interface had been translated and the cards themselves remained in English.
Stores known for distributing Pokémon events in Sweden are GameStop, and Toys "R" Us.
The Pokémon anime is broadcasted on Disney XD, previously known as Fox Kids and then Jetix, and TV4 in Sweden. The season Pokémon: Battle Frontier was not aired after the Pokémon: Advanced Battle season, but was just skipped, going directly to Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl. Pokémon: Battle Frontier was instead broadcasted on TV4+ and TV4's online site.
In Sweden the anime is available on Netflix.
All movies from the first to the seventh is known to have been released on DVD in Sweden. Then on May 15, 2009, Disney XD had their premiere of Giratina and the Sky Warrior. The tenth movie has also aired on Disney XD. Arceus and the Jewel of Life had a television premiere on Disney XD in 2010 and was said to be released on DVD soon by "Egmont Kärnan AB". Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea are not known to have been dubbed in Swedish.
So far, the only Pokémon music CD to be released in Swedish is Pokémon 3 den ultimata samlingen: Med musik från både filmen och TV-serien (Pokémon 3: The Ultimate Soundtrack). However, other albums in English, such as Pokémon the First Movie, have been available for sale in Sweden.
Cast and crew
Ash Ketchum's voice is made by Dick Ericsson in the Swedish dub. Misty was dubbed by the Swedish singer Anna Book in the first four seasons and the first three movies, Annica Smedius later on, and Maria Rydberg during the 55th episode. Brock was always voiced by Mattias Knave. May, Towa from the fourth movie, Miranda from the first movie, and most of the Nurse Joys were voiced by Maria Rydberg, and Max was voiced by Nick Atkinson. The famous Swedish family "Wahlgren" has made many of the voices in the series, Pernilla Wahlgren does Delia Ketchum's voice, Hans Wahlgren are voicing the Pokédex during the first season and Professor Oak. Nils Wahlgren is the voice actor of Meowth, and Niclas Wahlgren made Tracey's voice. Jessie is voiced by Annelie Berg and James by Andreas Nilsson. Other characters:

The headquarters of Bergsala, Nintendo's distributor in the Nordic countries and the baltics, is located at Marios Gata, Kungsbacka, Sweden. In 1989 a statue of Mario was built just outside the building, the statue was renovated in 2002, and replaced with a new statue of Mario in August 25, 2016.
