Earl Dervish owns the Pokémon Academy in Violet City. Until leaving on her journey in order to gather data on Pokémon for {{adv|Professor Oak}}, {{adv|Crystal}} used to do voluntary work at the academy. Having very little funding, the academy was in very bad shape but the building was later renovated as a sign of gratitude from Professor Oak for Crystal helping him in his research.
