* The reasons for Norman's banning from taking the Gym Leader test are revealed, as are many details regarding {{adv|Ruby}}'s past history with him.
* [[Maxie]] and [[Archie]] return and, after badly wounding [[Wallace]] by taking [[Winona]] hostage, are eventually defeated by the combined efforts of Ruby and {{adv|Sapphire}}.
* {{adv|Celebi}} is able to take back the [[Red Orb|Red]] and [[Blue Orb]]s and use its [[time travel]] powers to alter the course of events, reviving Courtney, Steven, and Norman.
