A blue pentagon[1][2] (Japanese: 五角形のマーク blue pentagon mark[3]) is a icon displayed on the summary screen of Pokémon obtained in the Generation VI games. Pokémon that are hatched, caught, or received as a gift in a Generation VI game will have a blue pentagon icon on their summary screen near the markings. Prior to the release of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, having a blue pentagon was referred to as being Kalos native.[4]

Pokémon transferred to Generation VI via Poké Transporter do not have this icon, although Pokémon bred from them do.

Function

In official tournaments in Generation VI, as well as at the Battle Spot in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, only Pokémon with a blue pentagon can be used. Pokémon without one can be filtered out from the list of Pokémon in Pokémon Bank's list mode.

In Pokémon X and Y, if the player has owned a species of Pokémon, but only a Pokémon that does not have a blue pentagon, it will be marked in the Pokédex differently. Unless one of the Kalos Pokédexes is completed using only Pokémon that have a blue pentagon, the player will not receive a crown on the Pokédex screen for that Pokédex. The player will still receive a diploma for that Pokédex; however, it will be different than if the Pokédex was completed only using Pokémon with a blue pentagon. It is still possible to obtain a crown and get the normal diploma if the Pokédex is completed with only Pokémon with a blue pentagon.

Pokémon that cannot have a blue pentagon

Currently, the only way to obtain the following Pokémon in Generation VI is via Poké Transporter. Since they otherwise cannot be obtained in Generation VI, they cannot have the blue pentagon mark. At present, this list is simply Mythical Pokémon that have not had a Generation VI distribution yet.
