Release information

This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it came with the February 1997 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in January 1997. This print is printed on glossy card stock. It was later released on regular card stock, again as a special card, through the JR Stamp Rally in September 1997. Those taking part in the Stamp Rally were tasked to collect stamps by visiting participating stations as detailed in special stamp books available to buy at a number of those stations. Those that collected the required number of stamps were awarded a two-card set that included Mew and a variant Surfing Pikachu. The English version of the card was released through Pokémon Leagues in June 2002. Psyshock's effect was misprinted on this print, saying "Confused" instead of "Paralyzed". Additionally, the Pokémon Power text is red instead of blue, like other Psychic-type cards, or yellow, like the Japanese prints.

Trivia

This card is commonly known as Glossy Mew or Lily Pad Mew. The former refers to the Japanese version obtained in the CoroCoro Magazine, while the latter refers to the card's illustration.

Origin

Psyshock's Japanese name is that of Confusion, a move in the Pokémon games; however Mew cannot learn it. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue.
