She has a bare, pink, hunched head and neck, along with a notched black beak and eyes, apparently possessing eyelashes, that have red irises. A long brown tuft with a bone in the middle extends from the back of her head like a archetypal tribal ponytail. She has a tan-brown ruff, and shaggy darker brown wings with darker tips. Trivia
- Mandibuzz has the highest HP of all Dark-type Pokémon.
- It is impossible to get a 'seen' Pokédex entry for Vullaby or Mandibuzz in Pokémon White without trading with another player.
- In Black and White, Mandibuzz is also one of five non-legendary Pokémon in the Unova Dex that is not used by any in-game Trainer outside of the Battle Subway and Battle Institute. The other four are its pre-evolution, Ferrothorn, Rufflet and Zweilous.
Origin
Mandibuzz is based on an Old World Vulture or the California Condor. Her design also bears resemblance to stereotypical "savages" or barbarians. The row of teeth around her waist resembles an apron.
According to interviews with Ken Sugimori in Nintendo Dream, Vullaby and Mandibuzz were added late into the development of Black and White. When Mandibuzz was originally created by James Turner, it was unrelated to Braviary, but it was later decided to use its design as a counterpart to Braviary.
Name origin
Mandibuzz may be a combination of mandil and buzzard. It may also refer to mandible.
Vulgina may be a combination of vulture and regina (Latin for queen).
