List of Key Items (Generation I)

This is a list of all key items that are found in Generation I. Please note that all of these are also part of the list of key items in Generation III due to Pokémon Red and Green being remade, and several appear in multiple generations.

List of key items in Generation I

Bicycle

• Purpose: Use to move faster than walking.
• Location: Cerulean City

Bike Voucher

• Purpose: Exchange for Bicycle.
• Location: Vermilion City

Card Key

• Purpose: Opens doors in Silph Co.
• Location: Silph Co.

Coin Case

• Purpose: Holds up to 9999 coins for use at the Rocket Game Corner.
• Location: Celadon City

Dome Fossil

• Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Kabuto.
• Location: Mt. Moon

Gold Teeth

• Purpose: Warden Slowpoke's false teeth. Return them to him for HM04 (Strength).
• Location: Safari Zone

Good Rod

• Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Better than the Old Rod.
• Location: Fuchsia City

Helix Fossil

• Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Omanyte.
• Location: Mt. Moon

Itemfinder

• Purpose: Locates items hidden on the ground.
• Location: Route 11

Lift Key

• Purpose: Allows operation of the elevator in the Rocket Hideout.
• Location: Rocket Hideout

Oak's Parcel

• Purpose: Deliver to Professor Oak to receive a Pokédex.
• Location: Viridian City

Old Amber

• Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Aerodactyl.
• Location: Pewter Museum of Science

Old Rod

• Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water.
• Location: Vermilion City

Poké Flute

• Purpose: Awakens sleeping Pokémon.
• Location: Lavender Town

Secret Key

• Purpose: Unlocks the door of Cinnabar Gym
• Location: Pokémon Mansion
• Trivia: There is an item of exactly the same name in Generation IV

Silph Scope

• Purpose: Allows Template:Type2 Pokémon to be seen.
• Location: Rocket Hideout

S.S. Ticket

• Purpose: Allows admission to the S.S. Anne.
• Location: Sea Cottage

Super Rod

• Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. The best Rod of all.
• Location: Route 12

Town Map

• Purpose: Displays a map of Kanto.
• Location: Pallet Town
