(Japanese: ドレディア Doredia) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Churine when exposed to a Sun Stone.

Biology

Physiology

Doredia dons a red flower with white spotted petals upon its head; said flower has golden filament with red anther, resembling a crown. She possesses dark green, linear leaves under the flower, and light green, linear leaves underneath the darker leaves. One of the light green leaves, on the back of its head, is about as long as her body. Two light green leaves loosely hang down from her head. Her head and abdomen are white and her eyes are a light shade of red. She has dark green, linear leaves for arms, and a golden sepal under her neck. She wears a large, light green, tulip shaped collection of leaves, resembling a dress. There are two long, dark green, linear leaves coming from her back to around the bottom of her "dress". She also possesses another golden, sepal-shaped extension underneath her "dress", resembling feet.

Gender differences

Doredia is a female-only species with no male counterpart.

Special abilities

Doredia has a Flower-like Crown on its head, which emits a sweet smelling aroma. Its believed to have a relaxing effect when exposed to the scent.

Behavior

Doredia is popular with Pokémon Breeders and Celebrities alike. But it is very difficult to coax this Pokémon's flower to bloom. Once it does, if the Doredia is neglected, the flower will wilt.

Habitat

Doredia is a rare Pokémon that lives in the forests of Unova, especially in the Yaguruma Forest.

Trivia

Origin

Though Doredia's flower is similar in appearance to the rafflesia, its relaxing smell makes it more likely to be based on either an orange, pomelo, mandarin orange, or carnation's flowers, all of which are used in essential oils for aromatherapy. Because of this, the leaves of its body may also have been based on other essential oil ingredients, such as spearmint and/or peppermint. Its crown and regal attire may be a reference to high class or royal women's fashion in the late 1700's. It could also be based on a dancer, since it knows only moves with the word Dance in them through level up (excluding moves it knows from the start)

Name origin

Doredia's name may come from ディア dear, レディ lady and possibly the flower genus Dianthus.
