The Power Plant (Japanese: むじんはつでんしょ Unmanned Power Plant) is a facility in Kanto that was abandoned years before the Generation I games, though some of the machinery still works. It is infested with Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It is located on Route 10, although to reach it, the player must use a Pokémon to Surf along a river.
The Power Plant is the only known roost of the legendary Pokémon, Zapdos.
However, many of the item capsules littering the Power Plant are actually camouflaged Voltorb or Electrode, so treasure seekers should be wary.
In Generation II, the Power Plant has been restored and refurbished, and provides power to the Kanto region, most notably the Magnet Train.
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Zapdos can be found here once again. However, it is encountered outside of the Power Plant , When all 16 Badges of Johto and Kanto have been acquired . It is currently unknown how the Power Plant will be affected following Zapdos's occupation.

Differences between Generations
Generation I and II
In Generation II, the Power Plant had been restored and changed drastically and was divided up in three rooms: One direct at the entrance, one where most of the scientists work and one where the machines are. All Pokémon had been chased away to grass outside of the building.
Generation I and III
In Generation III, only cosmetic changes have been done. One of the most noticeable changes are the machines that, instead having been concentrated to certain places, are now scattered all over the building. The cans in the middle had also been removed, walls replaced curtains, and stones were removed due to the smaller size.
Generation II and IV
The Power Plant had once again changed drastically. This time around, there are only two rooms with the engines being located in the middle of the room where the scientists are working, with the scientists being placed around the machines.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
It was revealed in Holy Moltres in the Red, Green & Blue Chapter that Lt. Surge has captured Zapdos.
Trivia
- Grimer and Muk can be found here in Pokémon Yellow, a direct reference to the anime episode Sparks Fly for Magnemite, where Grimer and Muk take over a power plant in Gringey City.
