Quite an appealing move.

Helping Hand (Japanese: てだすけ Help) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Helping Hand is an increased priority move that will raise the base power of the target adjacent ally's move by 50%.

It will fail if used in a Single Battle or by the player's Pokémon in a Horde Encounter; however, it can be used successfully by an opposing Pokémon in a Horde Encounter. It will also fail if the target has already acted this turn.

It can still affect a Pokémon even if it is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move like Fly or Dig.

Description

Games Description
RSEColoXD Boosts the power of the recipient's moves.
FRLG A move that boosts the power of the ally's attack in a battle.
DPPtHGSS A move that boosts the power of the ally's attack in a Double Battle.
BWB2W2 The user assists an ally by boosting the power of its attack.
XYORAS The user assists an ally by boosting the power of that ally's attack.

Trivia

  • Ever since its introduction, Helping Hand has the highest consistent priority of all moves, meaning a Pokémon performing this move will always go first unless another Pokémon uses Pursuit on a recalled Pokémon, or a Pokémon with Prankster uses a move with +4 priority.
