Hearts United (Japanese: 心つながる感謝祭) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Lillie and Lunala, N and Reshiram, and Steven and Rayquaza.

During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers P, Event Vouchers Q, and Event Vouchers R from battles that could be redeemed in the Shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except the Daily Extreme Battles, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Lillie (Anniversary 2021) and Lunala, N (Anniversary 2021) and Reshiram, or Steven (Anniversary 2021) and Rayquaza to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Elio and Popplio/Brionne/Primarina to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and Acerola and Palossand, Skyla and Swanna, Flannery and Torkoal, the player character and Pikachu, or the player character and Torchic to earn +0.2× bonus vouchers.

In addition to the story areas unlocked after completing battles, the story areas Lillie's Evolution, N's Dream, and Steven's Strength could only be unlocked after completing certain missions. Lillie's Evolution required the player to obtain 650 Event Vouchers P, N's Dream required the player to obtain 650 Event Vouchers Q, and Steven's Strength required the player to obtain 650 Event Vouchers R. Players could earn a medal upon completing any one of these story areas for the first time.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

First run

This event first ran from August 28 to September 30, 2021. The "Lillie Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (Anniversary 2021) and Lunala for the duration of the event. The "N Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting N (Anniversary 2021) and Reshiram starting on August 30, 2021 and lasting until the end of the event. The "Steven Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Steven (Anniversary 2021) and Rayquaza starting on September 1, 2021 and lasting until the end of the event.

The event areas were updated as the event continued. On August 30, 2021, Daily Extreme Battle 1 became unavailable, and Challenge Rosa: Part 1, Challenge Rosa: Part 2, and Daily Extreme Battle 2 were added. On September 1, 2021, Daily Extreme Battle 2 became unavailable, and Challenge Hilda: Part 1, Challenge Hilda: Part 2, Daily Extreme Battle 3, Battle Challenge! Round 1 and Battle Challenge! Round 2 were added.

Second run

This event reran from December 26, 2022 to January 11, 2023. The "Lillie Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (Anniversary 2021) and Lunala from the beginning of the event to February 6, 2023. The "N Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting N (Anniversary 2021) and Reshiram from December 28, 2022 to February 6, 2023. The "Steven Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Steven (Anniversary 2021) and Rayquaza from December 30, 2021 to February 6, 2023.

As in the initial run, the event areas were updated as the event continued. On December 28, 2022, Daily Extreme Battle 1 became unavailable, and Challenge Rosa: Part 1, Challenge Rosa: Part 2, and Daily Extreme Battle 2 were added. On December 30, 2022, Daily Extreme Battle 2 became unavailable, and Challenge Hilda: Part 1, Challenge Hilda: Part 2, Daily Extreme Battle 3, Battle Challenge! Round 1 and Battle Challenge! Round 2 were added.

Plot

Lillie, Steven, and N invite the player to a battle event that Lear has chosen them to host: the Unity Gala. They wear special outfits provided for them by Lear, excited to host stylish battles in front of an audience.

At the gala, Lillie chooses Professor Kukui as her first opponent. She thanks him for all the support she got from him in Alola, offering him a battle against her Legendary partner Pokémon Lunala to show off her gratitude, and Kukui happily accepts the offer. In the audience, Elio and Selene cheer for Lillie, while Gladion admits that Lillie has grown strong enough for him to consider her his rival.

After Lillie and Kukui's battle is over, it's N's turn to step onto the arena. Before the match, however, Lear requests N to give a speech, with Sawyer explaining that Lear wishes to support his dream and help him spread his message. N gives a speech on his views of the bonds between people and Pokémon, and urges everyone to treasure the bond they have with their partner Pokémon in order to persist through the occasional harshness of reality. He also admits that Pasio is just about the closest thing to his ideal as anywhere can be. After the speech is over, N asks the player to battle against him, but Hilbert and Hilda wish to battle N too, so N instead decides to team up with the player and make the match a Double Battle.

In his first match, Steven faces Wallace, using his Shiny Rayquaza partner in the battle and thanking Wallace in helping him in uncovering the mysteries surrounding Rayquaza and thus learning to understand it better. He remembers a battle he once had against another Rayquaza, with a formidable Trainer standing by his side to help. Now that he's partnered up with this Rayquaza on Pasio, he wishes to grow strong enough with it to surpass that Trainer. He also expresses his hopes of battling the other Trainer on Pasio who's teamed up with a Rayquaza someday. While he and Wallace resume their match, Zinnia is listening nearby.

Later, Nate and Rosa admire N's Reshiram and wish to support him in realizing his dream; Rayquaza becomes interested in Leon's Eternatus due to its meteorite-like energy; Liza and Lunatone are fascinated by Lunala; Professor Sycamore and N compare the similarities between the Legendary Pokémon of Unova and Kalos; and Zinnia and Steven's Rayquaza partners become interested in one another, with Zinnia wishing to battle Steven someday to see which of their Rayquaza is stronger.

Wallace	That's all you, Steven. You're the one who was curious about the relationship between Mega Evolution and meteorites in the first place, right?
Steven	That's true, I suppose... I did battle a Rayquaza once before, though. If not for the help of a certain formidable Trainer, I would have been in deep trouble. That battle remains burned into my memory to this day. I can still see it clearly in my mind—that Trainer standing defiantly before the might of Rayquaza. Now that I've partnered up with this Rayquaza here on Pasio... I hope that the pair of us can grow strong enough to surpass him!

Steven	Besides, there's another Trainer on Pasio who's partnered up with a Rayquaza. I’d like to battle her someday, too. And this time, I think I'll be able to approach a battle against Rayquaza a bit differently than before.

Serena	Yeah! We have statues of both of them in the Kalos region.
Professor Sycamore	It is said that Reshiram and Zekrom were involved in Unova's creation... whereas Xerneas and Yveltal are said to have had a hand in Kalos's destruction.
N	Two regions—each with two Legendary Pokémon that played a huge role in their region's history... It sounds like the myths of our homelands share quite a few similarities.
Professor Sycamore	Good observation! You're a clever one, aren't you! I think it would be interesting to investigate how the myths of Unova made it over to Kalos in the first place.
N	I'd be curious to see how the tale of these two made it all the way there as well. Maybe Reshiram, Zekrom, and I will have to pay Kalos a visit sometime.

Moon to Moon
