This card's effect matches that of the Black & White Series prints of Pokémon Catcher, a card later released in the Emerging Powers expansion. However, Pokémon Catcher was given an erratum for the XY Series of the card game, requiring a coin flip. The effect of Gust of Wind now matches that of the Supporter cardLysandre released in the Flashfire expansion, and Boss's Orders first released in the Rebel Clash expansion.
Due to this card, the act of switching in an opposing Benched Pokémon to the Active Spot is colloquially called "gusting", including through attacks and Abilities.
