Growl (Japanese: なきごえ Cry) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Growl decreases the opponent's Attack by one stage.

Generations III and IV

Growl will not affect Pokémon with the Abilities Soundproof, Hyper Cutter, Clear Body, or White Smoke.

In a Double Battle, Growl hits both opponents.

Generation V

In a Triple Battle, Growl will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.

Description

GSC Reduces the foe's Attack.
RSEColoXD Growls cutely to reduce the foe's Attack.
FRLG The user growls in a cute way, making the foe lower its Attack. stat.
DPPtHGSS The user growls in an endearing way, making the foe less wary. The target's Attack stat is lowered.
BWB2W2 The user growls in an endearing way, making the opposing team less wary. The foes' Attack stats are lowered.
XYORAS The user growls in an endearing way, making opposing Pokémon less wary. This lowers their Attack stats.
