Effect

Passive effect

Allows the player to pass through Route 111's harsh sandstorm, allowing them to obtain a Root or Claw Fossil from the northeast part of desert^RSORAS/Mirage Tower^E, which can be revived into Lileep or Anorith, respectively, in Rustboro City.

Without them, when the player tries to enter the desert, a message will pop up and say, "The sandstorm is too harsh!" and they will be turned away.

Trivia

• In Pokémon Black and White, a Backpacker references this item, saying he doesn't need them in the Desert Resort.
• In Generation III, several NPCs in the desert mention wearing Go-Goggles. This is no longer the case in Generation VI, where the same characters now mention how the sandstorm is hurting their eyes due to their lack of Go-Goggles.
