|desc={{p|Hitmonlee}} is the first revealed Pokémon of Giovanni's. He is also under the ownership of {{tc|Team Rocket Grunt|Team Rocket}} as well. Hitmonlee first appeared disguised as a thug and ran off with {{TP|Red|Pikachu|Pikachu (Pocket Monsters)}} while Red and {{TP|Red|Clefairy}} were busy eating. He did so in order to lure Red and Clefairy to a wrestling arena in order for Clefairy to have a boxing match. Hitmonlee was able to have the upper hand during the first few rounds. At the end, Clefairy was able to win the boxing match, with Red retrieving his Pikachu in the process.

|desc=While taking Erika's father hostage, Giovanni called out {{p|Hitmonchan}} to deal with Clefairy. This was a similar challenge to Clefairy as he dealt with a Hitmonlee back in the wrestling arena. However, Hitmonchan relies on punching while Hitmonlee relies on kicking. Clefairy defeats Hitmonchan by strapping him to a buffet.

In ''[[PM028|Seize the Dream of One Million Yen]]'', he sent out many of them to prevent anyone in the contest to beat him. The Voltorb shocked the Clefairy when he tried to win the contest. One of the Voltorb reappeared in ''[[PM047|Squirtle, the Crybaby Pokémon]]'' where they served as obstacles to Red and his Pokémon so that they wouldn't interfere with Giovanni's plans.}}

|desc=Giovanni sent out {{p|Muk}} to prevent anyone from winning the contest he hosted on TV. When Clefairy tried to compete in the contest, Muk prevented Clefairy from doing so by chasing him away.}}

|desc=Giovanni is seen with three {{p|Scyther}}. Each of them were sent out to prevent anyone from winning the contest he hosted on TV, as their sharp blades were proven useful.}}

Snorlax later reappears in ''[[PM031|Get The Last Badge!!]]'' before Giovanni's battle against Red. Snorlax was proven to be a tough opponent for his {{TP|Red|Clefairy}} as Clefairy easily bounced off. Snorlax is shadowed in ''[[PM059|Good-Bye, Pikachu?!]]'' during Giovanni's plans of dealing with Pallet Town.}}

He sent them out to prevent anyone from winning the contest he hosted on TV by having them {{m|dig}} a bunch of holes as a way to trap the participants. However, when Clefairy arrived with a cart, the Diglett threw the cart in the air by surfacing from the ground.}}

|desc=Giovanni sent out {{p|Machamp}} in order to get rid of Red, Clefairy and Pikachu when they went to the Amusement Park that he built. Machamp reappeared in ''[[PM059|Good-Bye, Pikachu?!]].

Giovanni has another {{p|Poliwhirl}} that appeared in ''[[PM031|Get The Last Badge!!]]'' where it was used in the Gym battle against Red. The Poliwhirl reappeared in ''[[PM059|Good-Bye Pikachu?!]]'' during Giovanni's plans of dealing with Pallet Town.
