The [[Nidoran]] family is a special case in terms of gender. Introduced in [[Generation I]], before gender was known for all Pokémon, {{p|Nidoran♀}} and {{p|Nidoran♂}} are considered separate species of Pokémon and indeed share many differences, from appearance to moveset.
