Forewarn (Japanese: よちむ Prophetic Dream) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Six Pokémon have this Ability, all of which are of the Psychic-type.

Effect

In battle

Forewarn shows the opponent's move with the highest base power. If two or more moves are of the same base Power, one will be chosen at random.

In a Double Battle, Forewarn will only show the highest base power move of out of the two opponents. If both opponents have a move with the same base power, one will be chosen at random. Moves without a base power that can cause damage are assigned one.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, a Pokémon with Forewarn occasionally evades moves, even moves that never miss.

Outside of battle

Forewarn has no effect outside of battle.
