Flail (Japanese: じたばた Wriggling) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. It can be considered the inverse of Eruption and Water Spout.

Effect

Flail inflicts damage and will inflict greater damage when the user's HP is low. The Base Power of Flail is calculated as follows:

User's Remaining HP Power
71% - 100% 20
36% - 70% 40
21% - 35% 80
11% - 20% 100
5% - 10% 150
1HP - 4% 200

Generation V

Flail's base damage is calculated by the following formula:

P = (48 * CurrentHP) ÷ MaxHP

P Power
P > 32 20
17 ≤ P ≤ 32 40
10 ≤ P ≤ 16 80
5 ≤ P ≤ 9 100
2 ≤ P ≤ 4 150
P ≤ 1 200

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

Flail does 2× damage if the user is under 75% health, 4× damage if the user is under 50% health, and 8× damage if the user is under 25% HP.
