Encore (Japanese: アンコール Encore) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II.

Effect

Generation II

Encore forces the target to repeat the last move that it used for 2 to 6 turns. If the victim of Encore runs out of PP on the affected move, the effects of Encore end immediately. If Disable is used after Encore, the target will be forced to use Struggle until the effects of Disable or Encore have worn off. Encore will fail if used on Transform, Mimic, Sketch, Mirror Move, Encore itself, Struggle, or a foe that just used up the last PP of a move, or one that has not made a move yet.

Generation III-IV

Encore lasts for 2 to 6 turns in Generation III and in Diamond and Pearl, in all Generation IV games after this it lasts for 3 to 7 turns. Torment, a slight copy of Disable, can now be combined to have the opponent use Struggle each second turn.

Generation V

Encore now lasts exactly 3 turns and can be reflected with Magic Coat, but will then fail.
