A Rivalry to Gible On! (Japanese: フカマル…ゲットだぜ! Fukamaru...Got It!) is the 145th episode of the Diamond & Pearl series, and the 611th episode of the Pokémon anime. It first aired in Japan as a 1 hour special on October 1, 2009, along with Dressed for Jess Success! and in the United States on February 20, 2010.

Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis As Ash and co. travel to Lilypad Town and Dawn's next contest with their new friends Khoury and Lyra, they decided to stop in a Pokémon center, Brock flirts to Nurse Joy again but only to be attacked by Croagunk. When suddenly, three kids along with their fainted Pokémon consult Nurse Joy, the three kids tried to catch a wild Gible, but fails. Nurse Joy warns Ash and co. then consults the three kids' fainted Pokémon while Brock offers his help. Ash finally decides to catch the rude Pokémon, Khoury was afraid because he thinks that it is too dangerous to catch the wild Pokémon, then the company make their way to catch the Pokémon.

Along their way, Lyra asks Dawn of what she thinks of having Khoury as her boyfriend, the question surprises Dawn, Lyra told her that they will be a great couple in the future which makes Dawn panick. Suddenly, along their way, a big rock came flying towards them which was intentionally caused by the wild Gible. After Khoury checks Gible's data on the Pokédex, the wild Gible uses strength and throw another big rock at Ash and co., they quickly dodges the rock then Gible uses rock smash at the rock. This amazed Ash and Khoury, the two decides to catch and raise the strong Gible. Ash sends out Buizel while Khoury sends out Totodile, the wild Gible uses Sandstorm at them then quickly dug a hole. It totally amazed Ash and Khoury, Lyra suggested to help Ash for Dawn to keep an eye on Khoury, then they follow the wild Gible. Team Rocket was eavesdropping the whole time, they want to give Gible to the boss because of its amazing power. Ash and Lyra with Buizel continues to look for Gible, Lyra spotted the Gible, and its moving very fast, Ash commands Buizel to use Aqua Jet at the fast moving Gible, when Buizel was about to hit Gible's dorsal fin, the Gible completely hides the fin and dodges Buizel's attack. The Gible changes course with Lyra spotting it the second time, Ash commands Buizel to aim Water Gun at the fast Pokémon but fails when it dodge the attack using the same strategy. Then Gible jumps, Buizel uses SonicBoom but easily dodges by the Gible. Gible moves at a top speed towards them, Ash commands Buizel to intercept it with Aqua Jet but dodges by the fast-moving Pokémon, Gible chased Ash and Lyra as they run through the grasslands, Lyra was afraid that it was able to catch up, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt at Gible but again dodges the attack with the same strategy, the Gible jumps and uses air to keep Ash, Lyra and Pikachu away, then it suddenly disappeared from their sight. Ash realizes that catching Gible was harder than he thought it would be. Dawn saw that Ash and Lyra was having a hard time catching the Pokémon, while Khoury decides to wait for Gible than to chase it by using a rod, he also gives Dawn one. When Khoury's rod suddenly shakes, they taught that they caught Gible but instead of Gible, Piplup was the one that is caught on his rod. Ash and Lyra came up with a different plan of catching Gible, the Gible suddenly appeared pissed and rushes toward Lyra, Lyra jumps at the rock so that Gible cannot follow her, but much to her surprise, the Gible breaks the rock where she stands. Lyra told Ash that she was fine and instead look for Gible. Ash spotted Gible coming at Dawn and Khoury, he warns them that Gible was on their way, he commands Buizel to use Aqua Jet while Khoury commands his Totodile to use Aqua Tail and both aim at Gible. But Gible keep out of the way and instead make the two Pokémon attack each other, this makes the two Pokémon fight. Ash and Lyra tries Khoury's way of catching Gible by using rods, Khoury come up with an idea of putting a Pokémon food only for Ground and Dragon types at their own rods to attract Gible. Meanwhile, Dawn's rod attracts the wild Gible and start shaking her rod, realizing that it is very strong, Dawn cannot reel the rod anymore but she was helped by Khoury, Lyra was thrilled of the two. When they are about to reel the rod in, Gible pulls the string which also pulls Dawn and Khoury. Gible breaks the rock they were standing at then it run at full speed away from them with Ash chasing it. Khoury uses a sensor at the ground to feel Gible's presence, Lyra sends out her Marill and detects Gible's location. Team Rocket saw Ash and co. and follows them, Khoury senses that Gible was on a nearby cave but he also warns Dawn that its dangerous and need to be careful. Ash, excited to catch Gible, runs into the cave with no worries but then fall through a Trapinch sandtrap.

  • As displayed in this episode a new visual effect has been introduced for when a Poké Ball is used to capture a Pokémon, as it will now let off several sparkles when the capture succeeds, similar to the games.
  • This episode has a very similar Japanese title to a future episode which is just 12 episodes later.
  • Music from Pokémon Heroes is used.
  • Team Rocket seam to think Gible is a water type.
