DP015: Difference between revisions

As Paul [[recall]]s Azumarill, he curses the {{pkmn|category|Aqua Rabbit Pokémon}} for its weakness, infuriating Ash. Paul summons his next Pokémon, {{TP|Paul|Elekid}}, which surprises Roark. Paul attacks first, and Elekid sends Geodude flying back with a {{m|Brick Break}}, knocking it out in a single hit. Roark sends out his next Pokémon, {{p|Onix}}, which Dawn checks on her [[Pokédex]]. Paul tries to get Onix with Brick Break again, but Onix dodges easily. Onix swings its tail around and brings it down hard on Elekid's head, but Elekid manages to {{m|Protect}} itself from the attack at the last minute. Onix manages to smash through the Protective barrier with a {{m|Double-Edge}} attack, and Elekid goes flying. Roark orders Onix to use {{m|Stealth Rock}}, embedding shards of rock into the battlefield – a [[move]] that comes into effect when Paul substitutes. Onix {{m|Slam}}s right into Elekid with its tail. It jumps back, however, as Elekid's {{a|Static}} [[Ability]] is triggered and {{status|Paralysis|paralyzes}} Onix. The two Pokémon clash again, but Elekid doesn't appear to be able to go on so Paul recalls it back to its {{i|Poké Ball}} to recover.  

Roark thanks Paul, saying it's been a good battle so far, before sending out his final Pokémon, {{TP|Roark|Cranidos}}. Paul tells Chimchar to dive underground again, so Roark calls for Cranidos to focus and use {{m|Headbutt}}. Cranidos follows through, striking Chimchar with its hard head. Paul again tells Chimchar to Dig, but by now, Roark has caught onto Paul's plan, and Cranidos lands a {{m|Zen Headbutt}} on its opponent. Roark tells his Pokémon to attack again, and Paul tries to get Chimchar to dodge with Dig. But, as Brock points out, Zen Headbutt has the side-effect of making a Pokémon [[flinch]] and unable to attack or dodge. Cranidos repeats its attack over and over, even using {{m|Focus Energy}} to ensure that Chimchar goes down, battering Chimchar to almost being knocked out. However, Chimchar begins to glow with a fiery red aura, signaling that he has tapped into his {{a|Blaze}} Ability. Roark realizes he has to finish this fast, and calls for another Zen Headbutt. Chimchar launches into a Blaze-boosted {{m|Flame Wheel}} attack and lands a blow directly on Cranidos’s weak spot – its legs. Cranidos picks itself up just as Chimchar repeats the attack, before going underground for another Dig attack. Cranidos takes the opportunity to power up with Focus Energy, allowing it to move in time to evade Chimchar. Cranidos follows up with Headbutt, knocking Chimchar out of the match. Paul recalls Chimchar into the Poké Ball, angry with him for his defeat and promising to deal with him later.  

Paul has one last chance, however, and calls out Elekid, who is again attacked by the trap of stones created by Onix's prior use of Stealth Rock. Roark tells Cranidos to use {{m|Flamethrower}}, which Elekid dodges before striking Cranidos's knee with Brick Break. This causes the Head Butt Pokémon to reel back in pain, as well as get paralyzed by Elekid's Static Ability. Cranidos shakes off the Static, however, thanks to its own Ability, {{a|Mold Breaker}}. However, just as Cranidos is about to attack with Zen Headbutt, its knee injury kicks in, allowing Elekid to land a Brick Break attack onto Cranidos's head. Cranidos blasts Elekid square in the chest with Flamethrower, shutting down its attempt to hit it with another Brick Break attack. What follows is an explosive collision between Zen Headbutt and Brick Break that leaves both sides worse for wear, with Cranidos once again getting paralyzed by Static before curing itself with Mold Breaker. As Elekid prepares to use Brick Break once again, Cranidos counters with Flamethrower, which Elekid manages to cut through before hitting its opponent right on the head and creating a massive explosion.
