Close Combat (Japanese: インファイト Infight) is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Close Combat inflicts damage and then lowers the user's Defense stat and Special Defense stat by one stage each.

Description

Games Description
The user fights the foe in close without guarding itself. It also cuts the user’s Defense and Sp. Def.
The user fights the foe up close without guarding itself. It also cuts the user’s Defense and Sp. Def.
The user fights the target up close without guarding itself. It also cuts the user's Defense and Sp. Def.
PMDTDS Inflicts damage on the target. But it also reduces the user's Defense and Special Defense by 1 level.

  • The only Pokémon who can learn Close Combat by Level Up and do not get STAB are Zangoose, Staraptor, and Meloetta (although the latter of which can gain STAB through forme change).
    • Coincidentally, all three are primarily the Normal-type, the type that is weak to Fighting-type moves like Close Combat.
