Challenge Hall

The Challenge Hall (Japanese: チャレンジホール Challenge Hall) is a location found in Pokémon Trading Card Game and its sequel, Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!. The Challenge Cup (Japanese: チャレンジカップ Challenge Cup) tournament is regularly held in Challenge Hall, with the winners being awarded with rare promotional cards. A small yellow door is present at the back of the Challenge Hall, but does not open under any circumstances. It is purely decorative, and was ultimately removed in Pokémon Card GB2.

Pokémon Trading Card Game

When a player enters the Challenge Hall when the Challenge Cup is occurring, they are brought on stage and seated at a table. There, players are challenged by three consecutive opponents, which are Club Members chosen at random from the eight Clubs in the game. The first and second times the player participates in the Challenge Cup, the third opponent is always Ronald.

The Challenge Cup will automatically start at certain points in the player's adventure, with a specific prize guaranteed at that time. If a player obtains another Master Medal without participating in the Challenge Cup, the Cup will end and the promotional card will be missed (although it is still possible to obtain later after all the pre-set Challenge Cups have come and gone).

After all of the pre-set Challenge Cups have come and gone, and once the player has defeated the Grand Masters, the Challenge Cup can occur at any time. Every time the player loads their save file, there is a chance that the Challenge Cup will be happening, although the exact chance of this happening is not currently known. If the player wins the Challenge Cup, they will receive a random Promotional Card (excluding the Legendary Cards and the Phantom Cards).

Prize Required event
  Mewtwo Obtain three Master Medals.
  Mew Obtain five Master Medals.
  Arcanine Defeat the Grand Masters.

Reason: Other Challenge Cups info for Pokémon Card GB2 information. For the first Challenge Cup, can the Club Members not available to battle until that time into the game be the random opponents chosen to battle in Challenge Cup? Can Challenge Cups be missed? What selection of cards are available as reward in Challenge Cup after defeating King Biruritchi?

TCG Island Challenge Cup

When a player enters the Challenge Hall when the Challenge Cup is occurring, they are brought on stage and seated at a table. There, players are challenged by three consecutive opponents, which are Club Members chosen at random from the eight Clubs in the game.

First Challenge Cup will automatically start after the player has completed the GR Coin, with a specific prize guaranteed at that time.

Prize Required event
Mewtwo Collect all GR Coin's pieces
  Pikachu Defeat Fort Leader Hiderō

After the defeat of Biruritchi, the Challenge Hall's Main Hall randomly hosts new Challenge Cups that reward the player a selection from Promotion Card.

GR Island Challenge Cup

The GR Challenge Cup works the same way as the classic Challenge Cup. Fort Members not yet available to battle in their specific GR Fort can be encountered in the GR Challenge Cup. Rules that normally apply to the duel against Fort Members and Fort Leaders don't apply in the GR Challenge Cup.

The first GR Challenge Cup will automatically start after the player has defeated Fort Leader Catherine, with a specific prize guaranteed at that time.

Prize Required event
Dark Persian Defeat Fort Leader Catherine
Bill's PC Defeat Fort Leader Kamiya

Reason: If the player hasn't taken part in the previous Challenge Cups, the GR Challenge Machine replaces the Main Hall?

After the defeat of Biruritchi, the GR Challenge Hall's Main Hall hosts the GR Challenge Machine, but the GR Challenge Cup can occur randomly as well as the TCG Island Challenge Cup.
