Protected

Why is this protected now? I sometimes create new Shortlink and add them here: like the an that I created. Netto-kun Talk 13:38, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's mostly because it's a Bulbapedia policy. I myself was wondering as I was protecting it if this one should be left alone. I'll ask around and get back to you. --PAK Man Talk 13:39, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if this should be protected or not, but I think it shouldn't. After all, some people like me, create Shortlink templates and aren't Admins to add here. Netto-kun Talk 13:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
After talking it over with another admin, we decided to have it protected from new users only. You should be able to edit it just fine. If not, let me know. --PAK Man Talk 05:07, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

The "G" template

On my talk page, one of the admins told me not to use it as a laziness template. I haven't gotten a response yet, so I will ask it here. If the g template can't be used in that manner, what can it be used for? I was unaware of the new policy being implemented. --rockersk08 23:17, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

It's only for games, hence the letter "g". You probably used it for something else involving the word "Pokémon", which is not the intended use.--RexRacer 23:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
If it's only for games, and the "pkmn" template does baisicaly the same thing, then why does the "g" template even exist? Dolphins_are_awesome (and Vulpix are too)! 01:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
pkmn hides the "Pokémon". g shows the "Pokémon". And people are very, very lazy with it. Personally, I would like to see all uses of it fazed out. It is not hard to write "Pokémon", guys! — THE TROM — 01:27, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Umm, no, but it... saves coding. Like, a lot of coding. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that's what link templates are all about - that that's the reason we were always incouraged to use them all the time. --electAbuzzzz 13:39, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but it's deemed as laziness template because it's not hard to type Pokémon Trainer, but it's a waste of time to type Trainer. Also, the "g" stands for "game" before, but is now widely used as "anything with Pokémon in its name". It's been approved by admins to delink everything that links to G template. Kevzo8 13:51, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
An additional piece of reasoning is that it makes it easier for new users to get their head around things. p, a and m are straight forward, but this one's just plain confusing to half of 'em. While link templates remain encouraged, use them only for their intended use. — THE TROM — 20:10, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, after reading this, I'm still confused. I understand that the "g" template was meant to be used with games, but what harm is there in using it differently? Sure, it's "lazy", but it also saves space. While I see an advantage in the latter, I don't understand what's wrong with being "lazy". And if everything that links to the "g" template is delinked, what's the point anyway? --Socob 17:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

There should be a shortlink to trainer classes

I would make it, but then I couldn't add it here. Dolphins_are_awesome (and Vulpix are too)! 23:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Use OBP. It links to things that are disambiguated and not covered by other link templates. Example here. — THE TROM — 23:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I think that a Trainer class thing would be good, if we move all Trainer classes to a parenthetical (why haven't we, anyway? Double Team proves we need it). TTEchidna 19:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
People have been edit/move warring over this for months TTE. Surprised you never noticed. It would certainly follow all of the disambiguation conventions we have here. —darklordtrom 22:41, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Regular talk pages

Where is the link template for regular talk pages? --CUBONE PWNS (Planet CuboneBone Club) 17:17, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

There isn't one, due to lack of demand in linking to talk pages. Obviously you're trying to code a signature, so just link it regularly. You'll probably save more room in coding by doing so. —darklordtrom 20:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Wikitonary

Shouldn't there be a link template for Wikitonary (or whatever-it's-called?) It would help a lot. ♣♣ Ƒǿҫὑṩ ❺❽ ♣♣ 17:58, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

I don't disagree, but what should it be? --SnorlaxMonster 15:14, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

New template

Can someone add the template { {TRT} } . It's a lot easier than typing out [ [Team Rocket trio|Team Rocket] ] in episode synopses. I really just want to know what people think before it's added. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 21:57, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

I think that is a useful template. --SnorlaxMonster 02:53, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm good with that as well. --ZestyCactus 02:55, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay. I added it. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 02:58, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon Adventures link

The Pokémon Adventures link { {PAV|_} } (I think) should be changed. Since Pokémon Adventures is usually known as Pokémon Special, and that's what the chapters are known as here, shouldn't we change it? -- Pringles 22:14, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

PAV links to the volume names, which are located at "Pokémon Adventures volume #" it makes the most sense to use PAV. Also, Bulbapedia always refers to things by their English names if they have them, so we always use Pokémon Adventures over Pokémon Special. The reason the epicodes use PS is that we used to call it Pokémon Special when the epicodes were decided upon and the epicodes tend to reflect the Japanese name anyway since that is the order they follow. --SnorlaxMonster 15:12, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

"Ablities" misspelling

This is a bit minor, but "Abilities" (linking to the "Ability" article in the 10th row, under the 'Use' column) is spelled incorrectly as Ablities - there should be an "I" before the "L" in the word. It appears to be linked correctly, but it is visually spelled incorrectly. I'm unable to edit the page (it's apparently protected/locked), so I hope that someone with proper editing permissions can fix the error. Thanks. Fenyx4 (talk) 14:29, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out, it has been corrected. --Pokemaster97 14:36, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Template:key

Can someone add this template (Gen number) to the list? --It's Funktastic~!話してください 03:45, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Inconsistency?

In the section with link templates for other wikis, I spotted something that doesn't match up. Hero results in Hero instead of Slime. Berrenta (talk) 13:09, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Redirected link

In the first row of the table under the Pure disambiguation section, Pokémon game is linked, but that's a redirect; the actual page is at "Pokémon games". Does a staff member want to fix that link? Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:41, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Corrected. --Pokemaster97 20:52, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Edit request

The header To other members of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis should be Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis, and To other members of NIWA should probably be To other members of the NIWA, because "To other members of Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance" makes no sense. I also request that in the In-game properties section should replace DoubleSlap with Double Slap, due to the name being changed (albeit not much of a change). Pikachu Bros. Wikitionary 2

I saw someone use Example word as a link template to Wiktionary. I think it should be added to this page. I would like to do it myself, but this page is locked, so I can't. Can someone please be willing to do this for me? --リック EO (Open for discussion) 01:30, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

That's not a link template, that's an interwiki prefix. You can see them all here. --SnorlaxMonster 03:42, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Oh. Didn't know that page even existed. In fact, I didn't even know it was called an Interwiki prefix. --リック EO (Open for discussion) 13:15, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Update

Can someone update some new link templates like XYORAS ? (I don't know if there are more). --Yen01 (talk) 10:01, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Super Smash Bros. link template

There is a "SSB" template that can be added to the list. Pikachu links to Pikachu, for example. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 20:37, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Spanish WikiDex link template?

Why is the link template es for Spanish-language WikiDex not listed here? An example goes like this:

Videojuegos de Pokémon

resulting in this: Videojuegos de Pokémon. SilSinn (Pokémon Sun Trainer ID: 768426) (talk) 22:47, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

DON'T ask to add. There are templates for Spanish and Portuguese Encyclopaediae Pokémonis listed, but they are hidden with the
<!-- -->
tags.
I hope I helped. --TheICTLiker4 13:42, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

New Region

Okay, it's not that new; but shouldn't gal refer to Galar Region disambiguations? Also, maybe a region template? Eragon4 (talk) 22:31, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

New menu sprite templates

Came across MSP and but they don't seem to be listed here. Could someone who understands the distinction between them and MS add them? --Swampertrox 22:47, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Typo

gameabbrev2 code example says gameabbrev3 Eragon4 (talk) 18:42, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Typo Part 2, Electric Boogaloo

gameabbrev2 code example says GS instead of GS Atrius97 (talk) 04:42, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Gen VIII and Gen IX templates

This page is currently missing Gen VIII and IX related link templates, such as , , gameabbrev8, and gameabbrev9, could someone update the list to include the handful of missing generation specific link templates? Atrius97 (talk) 06:04, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Form link template

Could Template:Form, which links to specific sections of List of Pokémon with form differences be added? Landfish7 00:37, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Trading Card Game

Could Template:Trading Card Game, which links to Pokémon Trading Card Game as TCG, be added? Landfish7 05:34, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

More missing link templates

Just gonna drop some more missing link templates here (in no particular order):

I'll add more here later if I think of any. Landfish7 22:20, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Oh, and this also needs updated with game4's new functionality. Landfish7 22:24, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Also terastal. → PikaTepig999 05:58, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
Adding rf to the list. Landfish7 15:38, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
After updates on Potion and Days of the week pages, the usage of DL and dotw need to be updated. The template key itself needs to be updated as it is using a redirect after page moves. There may be a lot more, so someone should probably double-check all the templates... → PikaTepig999 03:44, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Time to add vg and DetPikMov and UNITE and me. → PikaTepig999 00:36, 13 December 2023 (UTC) Edited 16:36, 14 December 2023 (UTC) Edited 21:23, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

(resetting indent)All templates mentioned above should now be added. I also went through and removed all the templates that are no longer used, as well as fixing the examples that link to redirects (the second example on the list was still formatted as DoubleSlap despite that page being moved a decade ago, oof). The only template mentioned above that I didn't address was dotw, since that would need to be fixed on the template side and that'll require more discussion. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:36, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

I should mention that the EP wiki section does not reflect the current members. Notably, Wikinezka is down, and WikiDex is up now, so that should be updated. --Bfdifan2006 (talk) 21:39, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, SA! Can you also mention that terastal works when using it as terastallization (Terastallization) etc? Idk if everyone will check the template page, and this seems like a useful tip to mention on this page as well. → PikaTepig999 22:25, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
My bad, I totally skipped the sections for interwiki links! EP and NIWA wiki links are now updated, and I added a second usage example for terastal while I was at it. Storm Aurora (talk) 23:53, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
