Regirock, Regice and Registeel first appeared as wild Pokémon in the Ruby & Sapphire of Pokémon Adventures. Steven sent Drake, Sidney, and Glacia to capture them so that they could be used to help contain the battle between Kyogre and Groudon in Sootopolis City.
Regirock, Regice, and Registeel are three Pokémon that were sought after by Steven Stone in preparation for the upcoming battle against Groudon and Kyogre. After some difficulties, he manages to awaken them from their resting places with the help of the Blind boy and Sapphire. Once awakened, Regirock was partnered with Drake and Sidney, Regice was partnered with Phoebe and Glacia, while Steven teamed up with Wallace to control Registeel.

In VS. Sudowoodo, Pyramid King captured the three Pokémon, who were weak following the battle in Sootopolis. He later used them to battle Emerald in the Battle Pyramid. During this fight, Regirock started off delivering a powerful Superpower attack that left Emerald's Sceptile struggling, and right after the boy had Sceptile attempt a Leech Seed, Regirock used Explosion and knocked both of them out. Just as Emerald had the Hitmonchan he borrowed from Crystal deliver a finishing blow on Registeel with a powerful Sky Uppercut following a barrage of Fire Punches, Brandon reveals that he had the massive golem use Toxic out the get-go, causing Hitmonchan to faint. With just one Pokémon left on either side and Regice reigning supreme, it seemed Brandon had the battle won, but Emerald then reveals a secret of his own, and Sceptile is revitalized by a Revive, allowing it to finish Regice with a surprise Iron Tail from behind. The same golem was then seen in the first confrontation against Guile Hideout.
During the battle, the three Pokémon used Superpower to contain the destructive energy created by the clash between Groudon and Kyogre. After Groudon and Kyogre are defeated, the strain of controlling the three Pokémon causes Steven to die from exhaustion. With no one to control them, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel lashed out against their controllers and left to parts unknown.

In the Emerald, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel were found and caught by Brandon for use in the Battle Frontier.

When Emerald challenged the Battle Pyramid, Regirock was the first to be sent out to face his Emerald. During the battle, Regirock had its health sapped away by Leech Seed, so it countered by blowing itself up with Explosion, greatly damaging Sceptile. With Regirock knocking itself out in the process, Brandon switched with Registeel, who was sent out to face Emerald's borrowed Hitmonchan, Monlee. With his speed and super effective hits, Monlee was able to easily defeat Registeel, only to quickly fall by a Toxic attack.

The last to be used was Regice, who faced Emerald's borrowed Cubone, Bonee. Due to Regice's typing, Bonee was at a disadvantage and was knocked out after a short time. Although confident that he had won their battle, Brandon was shocked to see that Sceptile had been revived in secret and defeated Regice with an Iron Tail, making Emerald the winner of the battle. In the Artisan Cave, Regice was used to attack Guile Hideout in order to get revenge for Noland's injuries. The attack did nothing to Guile, who simply swung his sword and sent Regice flying.

In the HeartGold & SoulSilver, it was revealed that three Pokémon were lent to Palmer at one point. Palmer took the Pokémon to the Snowpoint Temple, where he awakened and captured the legendary Pokémon Regigigas.
