Apricorn (Japanese: ぼんぐりのみ Bonguri Fruit) are fruit that grow on trees in groves around Johto. Its English name sems to be derived from the combination of the words apricot and acorn, since it has characteristics of both.

Each apricorn is valuable because apricorn trees are very sensitive; picking an apricorn before it is ripe, or picking too many at once could damage the entire tree.

Kurt, a Poké Ball smith, can make different Poké Balls out of each color apricorn. Each of the apricorn Poké Balls has its own name, its own special colors, and its own specific uses. Apricorn Poké Balls are much rarer than the usual kinds, but in older times almost all Poké Balls were made out of apricorn.

  • A woman in the Azalea Pokémon Center says that before Poké Balls were around, people hollowed out Apricorns and put a device in them to capture Pokémon. This is most likely how Kurt mastered the trade.
