Viridian City

Viridian City

Viridian is a small city on the west side of Kanto. The Viridian Gym is closed for now, and the Pokémon academy that once stood here has been replaced by the Trainer House. Talk to the man in the southwest for TM42 (Dream Eater), and take Route 1 south to Pallet Town.

Trainer House

The Trainer House allows you to battle a certain opponent under controlled conditions. The default opponent is Cal, who uses the final forms of the Johto starter Pokémon at level 50. However, if you have used the Mystery Gift function before, the opponent will be the last person with whom you interacted, with the same Pokémon, moves, and items. The number of battles is limited to one per day.

Route 1

Route 1

The uneven terrain of Route 1 allows southbound travelers to avoid all but the southernmost patch of grass.

Pallet Town

Pallet Town

Pallet Town is a quiet town in the southwest. Two of its residents, Red and Blue, have both held the Champion title at some point in the past. Professor Oak's Laboratory, where the professor researches the relationships between people and Pokémon, is also located here.

Red's House

Red is not home right now. He defeated Blue to earn his Champion title, but gave up that position with the Pokémon League to continue his training. His mother is proud of him, but still worried that he's alone somewhere.

Blue's House

Blue is away too, but his sister Daisy will offer to groom one of your Pokémon every day, from 3pm to 4pm. Grooming is an important process for obtaining new Pokémon like Espeon and Umbreon.

Professor Oak's Lab

Visit Professor Oak to have him rate your Pokédex. He also asks you to visit again after earning all eight Kanto Gym badges.
