Acid (Japanese: ようかいえき Corrosive Liquid) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generations I and II

Acid does damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Defense by one stage.

In Stadium, Acid has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Defense.

Generation III-IV

Acid does damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Defense by one stage.

Acid will hit both opponents in a Double Battle.

Generation V

In triple battles, Acid will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.

Games Description Stad A Poison-type attack. Has a one-in-three chance of lowering the target's Defense Stad2 A Poison-type attack. Has a one-in-ten chance of lowering the target's Defense GSC An attack that may lower Defense. RSE Sprays a hide-melting acid. May lower Defense. FRLG The foe is sprayed with a harsh, hide- melting acid that may lower Defense. DPPtHGSS The foe is attacked with a spray of harsh acid. It may also lower the target’s Sp. Def stat. BW The opposing team is attacked with a spray of harsh acid. The acid may also lower the targets' Sp. Def stats.

• Acid has no effect on Template:Type2 Pokémon, despite that real-life acids react very strongly with most metals.
• No Pokémon from Generation IV can legitimately learn Acid.
• Only Pokémon from Generation I gain STAB on Acid.
