In [[HZ049]], Quaxly participated in a livestreamed training battle against Roy's Fuecoco as per Iono's request. However due to his Trainer getting nervous and unable to issue her commands, Quaxly was clueless as what to do and was instantly defeated by Fuecoco as a result. Quaxly soon confronted his Trainer about needing to rely on her Nidothing costume in public. Quaxly then battled against a wild {{p|Varoom}}, with his bravery and determination inspiring Dot to let go of her fears and become more confident in public, allowing her to command Quaxly properly to defeat the Single-Cyl Pokémon.

In HZ050, Quaxly's battle against Iono's Bellibolt began, with Dot having studied Bellibolt's moves beforehand, Quaxly easily dodged Bellibolts Spark and hit it with Water Gun, but he was then caught off guard with its electromorphosis ability which powered up its following discharge, badly hitting Quaxly. Quaxly tried to attack Bellibolt further with Water Gun but then failed to stop it healing itself with slack off, he started to struggle with Bellibolt's continued assault but soon calmed himself down with dancing to build focus and momentum. Dot then Terastallized Quaxly for the first time into a water-type. Quaxly hits Bellibolt with low kick, catching Iono off guard before learning a new move Liquidation to greatly damage Bellibolt further, Iono then got serious and Terastallized Bellibolt into an Electric type, which then unleashed a powered-up discharge to defeat Quaxly. Despite the loss, Dot and Quaxly still managed to pass their basics test for fully letting loose and having fun in battle, showing how their bond has improved.
