Global Terminal: Difference between revisions

Although being a well-meaning trade function, the GTS has come under criticism. Many traders ask for a [[legendary Pokémon]] (e.g. {{p|Mewtwo}}) in exchange for a common Pokémon, and some players request Pokémon at levels that are impossible to legally obtain that Pokémon at (such as a "Level 9 and under" {{p|Charizard}}). Other trades are dominated by demands of Pokémon often featured in Pokémon marketing, such as {{p|Munchlax}} or {{p|Lucario}}. And the inability (prior to Generation VI) to ask for a Pokémon the player has not seen made it impossible to trade for event Pokémon (such as {{p|Manaphy}}, except in Platinum, or Pokémon that can only be found in [[Generation III]] games) over the GTS without having already obtained the Pokémon through some other means (e.g. local trades or GTS Negotiations).  And, in Generation VI, certain Pokémon (such as {{p|Darkrai}}) can be requested in exchange for a deposited Pokémon despite that the Pokémon is prohibited from being actually deposited or traded on the GTS.
