:::::How is it not clear that status moves aren't affected? You just said that it's obvious only damage can be halved. The first sentence makes it apparent that it only affects damaging moves, the second sentence clarifies it. It doesn't matter if "This" is referring to the Ability or its effect, there's no difference between them. If the Ability had a second affect, further clarification would be needed but it doesn't.
