Olivia is one of [[Alola]]'s four [[island kahuna]]s, who first debuts in {{g|Sun and Moon}} and returns in {{g|Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon}}. As kahuna of [[Akala Island]] she helps govern the island and participates in battle for the grand trials on Akala Island.

Once the player and their [[friend]]s makes their way to [[Heahea City]] on [[Akala Island]], Olivia, as well as [[Mallow]], one of Akala's [[Trial Captain]]s, will greet them. The two were in the middle of Mallow's deliveries before spotting the group. She forms of friendly banter with [[Professor Kukui]] and tells [[Hau]] and the player that she is excited for their grand trials. Olivia leaves with Mallow. If the player attemps to leave for [[Diglett's Tunnel]] before doing all three of Akala's trials, Olivia will prevent the player from going deep within the area. Depending on what trials and areas the player has visted, she'll direct them on where to go.
 
By the time all three trials have been completed and once the player has visted the [[Dimensional Research Lab]], she will appear in Diglett's Tunnel and tells tells them that she will be waiting at her jewelry shop in [[Konikoni City]]. However, making it to her store reveals that she is missing. Her {{p|Probopass}} brings the protagonist a note saying that Olivia is currently doing work for {{p|Tapu Lele}} at the [[Ruins of Life]]. Making it to the ruins, she is seen with [[Lillie]], who has managed to get lost and [[Professor Burnet]] has brought her to Olivia for protection. Olivia challenges the player to the grand trial, to which Lillie and [[Nebby]] happily watch for their own enjoyment. After the battle, Olivia provides the player with a [[Rockium Z]] and then questions Lillie's purpose for coming to the ruins despite not being a [[Pokémon Trainer]], where as most people and Pokémon tend to stay away from the tapu due to fear. Olivia is pleased with Lillie's answer of coming for Nebby's sake, and brings the two back to Konikoni before being stopped by [[Hau]] who tells the player about their upcoming visit to [[Aether Paradise]]. Off screen, Olivia battles Hau for his grand trial. At the [[Hano Grand Resort]], she sees the player and Hau off, giving them some advice, ''"Your greatest opponent is always yourself. Your greatest allies, the Pokémon beside you."'' Once a day, after her grand trial, when ordering a Z-set from [[Mallow]]'s restaurant, Olivia will appear and order for both herself and the player.
