Anabel later returns in Pokémon Sun and Moon, with a drastically new appearance, additional Pokémon, and having a story role outside of a battle facility for the first time.

Ten years prior to the events of Sun and Moon, Anabel was found unconscious on a [[Poni Island]] beach by [[Looker]] and [[Nanu]], who had just completed a mission for the [[International Police]]. She had lost most of her memories and was only able to tell them her name, that she came from Hoenn, that she protected a tower there, and that she was a powerful Trainer. After being placed in the custody of the International Police, they detected incredible amounts of [[Ultra Wormhole]] energy coming from her, implying that she was a [[Faller]] who was lost in a wormhole for a significant amount of time. Anabel was never informed of this, however.  

Anabel joined the International Police herself and quickly ascended the ranks, much to the help of Nanu before his retirement, until she became Looker's superior in the UB Task Force; a secret division of the International Police that deals with Ultra Beasts. Anabel maintains a professional demeanor, to the point of training for upcoming assignments on her time off, and regularly thinking about work where she knows she should be taking time to relax. Nevertheless, she is passionate about the work that she does for the UB Task Force and hopes to safeguard the lives of people and Pokémon, especially those of the [[Ultra Beasts]].  

After the player becomes the champion of Alola, they will meet Anabel and Looker when they visit the Route 8 motel on [[Akala Island]] with the request of recruiting the player to the UB Task Force. It is here that the two reveal the effect of [[Lusamine]]’s prior actions in the story: Ultra Beasts have passed through Ultra Wormholes all over [[Alola]], and Anabel personally chose to take on the mission with Looker as her backup. Although one of the task force's duties is to either safeguard or destroy the Ultra Beasts, neither Anabel nor Looker wishes to harm them, so they need the help of the new Champion of Alola to ensure their safe capture. Anabel will battle the player to make certain that they are up to the job, reciting a quote she had said long before during her time as a Frontier Brain. With the player’s victory and recruitment, the group proceeds to track down and catch Ultra Beasts across all four of Alola's islands, and after the player catches the first, {{p|Nihilego}}, Anabel arranges for the player to keep the Ultra Beasts instead of delivering them to the International Police, where there they would end up as research subjects.  

In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Anabel appears with Looker in [[Poni Plains]]. The two block the way to [[Poni Coast]] until the UB incident at [[Poni Grove]] is resolved, at which point Anabel leaves to go to the Battle Tree for training. It is mentioned that in these games, Anabel and Looker are on vacation in Alola instead of being there for a mission.
