:When I said "it could be anyone", I was referring to his quote in HGSS where the player reminded him of previous challengers (i.e. other players). It could be the same case here, it could be another player that owns a black Charizard. There is a difference between a mention and an actual thing that happens in the game. If something happens in the game appears in the anime as well (no matter who does it first), we can easily prove that the two are connected.
